The South London Botanical Institute: Introducing People to Plants for over 100 years

Roy Vickery of the The South London Botanical Institute talks to Lewisham Local History Society about Allan Octavian Hume. The SLBI, near Tulse Hill station, was founded by Hume in 1910 to interest local people in plants and fungi.  Mr Vickery will talk about Hume’s extraordinary life as an ornithologist, founder of the Indian National Congress, social reformer, and, finally, botanist, and describe the Institute’s ongoing work.
